Kelly V. Kelly, or Due Process - A Play

A man is put on trial by the world—and himself.

When Joseph Kelly is sued by his ex-wife for pain and suffering — then arrested for resisting the process, what begins as a civil dispute escalates into a criminal case, and ultimately, a question of existence itself. As the legal system grows more surreal, Joseph Kelly becomes the only person convinced of his own guilt.

Kelly v. Kelly (or, Due Processes) is an absurdist courtroom drama about guilt, perception, and the strange theater of self-judgment. What begins as a domestic dispute unfolds into a trilogy of escalating legal confrontations, each one pushing Joseph Kelly further into a world where private pain becomes public spectacle. Blending psychological tension, dark humor, and surreal theatricality, the play explores what happens when a man begins to prosecute himself long before any court can.
